What’s On

Explore upcoming events and activities that bring the Festival31 community together for artistic inspiration and cultural celebration.

Each year, we showcase activities that have taken place over the past 12 months, which engage with the themes of forced displacement and resettlement. Festival31 has a main showcasing period each year, the first day coincides with the first day of National Refugee Week, which this year begins on June 16th, the Festival31 showcase runs for 30 days ending on July 16th.

During the showcasing period, we will highlight a selection of activities contributed by the Festival31 community. Additionally, we will be featuring artists in residence, exhibitions, and performances.

Discover Festival31 Highlights

This year, we’re covering three different areas of what’s on throughout the year. The first section of this page shows activities that have been submitted for the festival since July 2024 up until the 16th June 2025.
You’ll see a diary showing activities submitted as part of this year‘s Festival31 June 16 to July 16, 2025. The final section is for activities happening from July until next June and information about SOLA’s Festival31 Artist residencies.  You can find out more about this year’s commissioned Artists here.

Festival31 Highlights

We are committed to supporting low- or no-cost activities that enable individuals from across our communities to access art and cultural events and activities. If there is a fee for an event or activity, we can include it in our calendar; however, we cannot guarantee promotion across our social media platforms.

Festival31 has an ethos of enabling, empowering, and inclusivity. Submissions that do not align with these principles will not be included in the festival program.

An inspiring showcase that opened my eyes to new perspectives on displacement through powerful artistic expression.
